Substack has rolled-out a new survey tool and I thought I’d use it to gauge interest in a possible one day conference (probably in London) roughly coinciding with the Party Conference season in the Autumn. The plan is that this would be a one day conference where I’d have speakers that I’ve interviewed for the site, people who have interviewed me on other platforms (like TNT Radio), and other key movers and shakers in the broad ‘freedom movement’. You may remember we ran an evening Digital ID event in London a while back that attracted about 150 or so people - and speakers included Bob Moran and Abi Roberts. We also jointly organised an evening with Nick Hudson in May 2022 (in conjunction with Pandata) that had around 200 attendees.
However these things are notoriously tricky to organise - and can be expensive to run. My thinking is that we’d need to charge around £50 a head to break even. (Paying subscribers may get to attend free - TBD).
The broad themes would - hardly surprisingly - be about free speech, free thinking, geopolitics, bitcoin, and the parlous state of UK politics. The likelihood is the event might be happening around about the time of the UK General Election (hopefully before).
There would be debates and panel discussions and we’d have lots of time for drinks and socialising at the end of the day. So, would you attend? If I have enough positive feedback (to the poll and in terms of new paying subscribers) I’ll set the wheels in motion.
Feel free to add comments regarding location, duration, date and speakers you'd like to see at the event. Also themes. Should it be longer than a day? Should it be live streamed?
I'm afraid its too far
