Back in mid-2020 few nations offered travellers hassle-free entry, apart from Greece. The country is reaping the rewards with a tourism industry barely dented by the fake pandemic. This year I’ve been lucky enough to spend nearly three months in this wonderful country. I’m writing this post from the Peloponnese. I spent the weekend on the island of Spetses. Earlier in the year I visited other islands - each with their own unique characteristics and culinary nuances - like Hydra and Poros.
And two weeks ago I decided to take a swim in The Aegean with my mobile phone in the back pocket of my shorts. The salt-water infused thing never mustered a pixel after that. So I’ve been rather more asynchronous in my comms than normal. That’s been a good thing in many ways. I’ve been tweeting much less (reliant on periodic boot-ups of my MacBook). And I’m certainly much less politically informed. But that’s no great loss. The MSM continues its government dictated stenography. The Conservative Party has adopted the Ukraine flag as its logo. Different day, same madness.
I’ve also been writing less for this site than normal. Ironically, the number of subscribers has increased markedly. (Many thanks to the hundreds of new subscribers over the last few weeks). Tomorrow I return to the rain and the start of a new political year. The big deal, of course, will be the November mid-terms in the United States. If, as predicted by Jeffrey Tucker, the Democrats are decimated, the geopolitical techtonic plates will shift. Not right, but definitely shift to the Libertarian. The key spokesperson for American Republicans will be - in even greater measure - Ron DeSantis, Florida Governor, and the clear front-runner for the Republican nomination should Trump not run. And Tulsi knows that the writing is on the wall for the woke Democrats.
The UK Conservatives will be forced to recalibrate based on the results of the mid-terms. The current policy alignment with the rudderless Biden has to come to an end. The Ukraine war-mongering, like the medical coercion under Covid, will dissipate. Political solutions will be sought. There is no public mood - and certainly no budget - for any alternative. Once again, fossil based energy will drive realpolitik.
So, tomorrow, to home. Let the politics resume.
...don't expect any sympathy for returning to the rain.......some of us never left it.!
