Legacy Media Should Be Worried

How long will the ostrich strategy hold?

Clearly there’s a limit to how long the media can ignore the relentless release of damning evidence of state sponsored censorship during the last (nearly) three years. The Twitter files have, so far, exposed FBI staffers on the Twitter payroll; employees being wall-to-wall Democrat supporters; prominent Doctors being silenced; tweets being shadow-banned; or prominent “anti-vaxxers” being removed from the platform on the instruction of the Biden administration. In short, the Twitter files have shown the extent of state-sponsored suppression of free-speech - in direct contravention of the 1st amendment of the US Constitution. This is the stuff, surely, that should lead to an impeachment or at least a grand jury investigation.

But, no. Instead the media studiously ignores the daily bombshell file releases. Each day reveals ever greater malfeasance and yet the ‘journalists’ of the New York Times or Washington Times steadfastly ignore each and every revelation.

In choosing Substackers like Matt Taibbi to do the ‘big reveal’ it was clear to Musk that he’d lost all confidence in the mainstream media (MSM) to cover the story. Most of the media in the US, UK and Europe are controlled by the new-corporatist-Left. As has been pointed out by several commentators on Twitter, the capture of the media by the new Left-elite (WEF and Trilateral Commission stenographers) has been going on for the last decade or more. But, at the same time, the relative power of the legacy media has been declining. Twitter and Substack, combined, have arguably more reach and more influence than the stenographer media (like the BBC, Murdoch titles and ITV, here in the UK). The problem is that legacy media still has more reach into the unthinking classes - the Strictly/King’s Christmas Speech demographic.

This is clearly irking Musk a little. He has been hinting that he might just end up buying more legacy media organisations.

Although, at least, Epoch Times is becoming a significant force - sustained largely by subscriber revenue rather than corporate/state agendas.

But there’s evidence that the weight of evidence against the legacy media is about to get overwhelming.

If the UK media thinks that it’ll be immune from these reputation damaging revelations it’s very badly wrong and out of touch. And the reputation damage will ripple across Whitehall. The state controlling the media and the narrative is never a good look. The Twitter files will reveal the extent of US/UK collaboration on Covid policy dissent suppression. And, remember, some of the most effective dissenters have now been restored to Twitter:
