I've just received this statement from Dale Farm, Northern Ireland's largest Dairy Co-Operative of 1,300 farmers. I had asked them whether any of their members were using the feed additive Bovaer.

The statement reads:

Our farmers who supply us with nutritious milk are committed to the highest standards of food safety, animal welfare and environmental responsibility – ensuring the best quality milk is used across our range of well-loved dairy products.

Across the dairy industry initiatives are being explored to make the dairy industry even more sustainable, while maintaining the highest safety, quality and animal welfare standards.

Our dairy farmers are not using the additive Bovaer which is being trialled by others as one way to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
